Music Lessons

It unusual to see full sized grand pianos in peoples’ homes and most pianists who own their own piano will most likely have a more conveniently sized upright piano. Grand pianos, particularly the largest and most expensive concert grands, are generally considered to have a significantly superior tone and playability to the more common upright pianos. However, despite the improved tonal qualities of grand pianos they are usually to expensive and large for most people to have one in their own home and the largest examples, which can sometimes be as long as 3 metres are usually reserved for concert halls.

Although most grand pianos are considered too large and expensive to be used at home there are some smaller designs which are available for domestic use and are comparatively inexpensive. Parlour grand pianos and baby grand pianos are smaller versions of the traditional concert grand that are ideal for people’s homes. Many of these grand pianos intended for use at home are decorated, or designed to be aesthetically pleasing so they can double up as an ornamental feature of the room they are placed in. If you’re looking for grand pianos which may be suitable for your home then they can be purchased from specialist retailers.
